Donald E. Garlikov
In 1966, I earned my MBA after obtaining a B.S. in Finance from The Ohio State University. Opportunity called me to New York City where my first position was as the Assistant to the V.P. of Mergers and Acquisitions of the US Plywood Corporation with whom I worked on the successful merger with Champion Paper International.
Working in New York in the Fortune 500 corporate arena for five years provided me with experience in corporate finance and investor issues as well as mergers and acquisitions. Ultimately I advanced to Controller of Chemical Consumer Products, a division of The Borden Company, Inc. When Borden relocated headquarters to Columbus, Ohio, in 1971, a transfer provided a return to the Midwest. A subsequent position in a closely held life insurance operation introduced me to the life insurance industry as well as the issues and the perspective of entrepreneurs and closely held business owners.
The knowledge gained from these past experiences, in addition to my own investment activities and entrepreneurial business ventures, are the foundation of The Garlikov Companies, Inc., which began in 1978 with formation of Garlikov & Associates, Inc. Subsequently, Garlikov Advisors, Inc. was created to meet the changing needs of our clients. My shared affinity with the personal concerns faced by entrepreneurs, as well as the financial and other issues faced by closely-held business owners, complement my understanding of the challenges publicly traded corporate management encounter and provide me with a distinctive perspective. Our vision to help create successful solutions for our clients is further enhanced by more than thirty years in the financial services industry.
